Scissors Sisters Unveil New Single
The queer-pop pioneers debut new floor-filling track entitled Shady Love
As a way to kick off pop in 2012 you could do alot worse than a new Scissor Sisters single.
The band, everyone's fave queer disco-electro-pop sensation, had already promised us a new tune to put this year into orbit (only 2 days in!) but they neglected to mention that Shady Love is also totally brilliant.
It sounds radically different to a lot of their other stuff while still maintaining the same knowing wit and exuberant energy that characterizes their best work. Shady Love is an aggressive floor-filling sleaze of electro sleaze with a playful side that gives it a sparkle of pop sheen.
With Jake Shears rapping innuendo laden verses over throbbing electro thump, a disco-tinged chorus and an appearance from much hyped rapper Azealia Banks (she of 212 fame) under the moniker Crystal Pepsy, Shady Love packs a lot into it's less than 4 minute run time.
Co-produced by Alex Ridha, a.k.a. electronic producer supremo Boys Noize, this track is the perfect launching pad for the next stage of Scissor Sisters, glistening with enough cheeky lines and attitude to win over their pop fanbase and still push their sound in a new direction.
More importantly it's also a song that will sound mind-bendingly brilliant flying out of a big club speakers and rhymes Madonna with Obama. What is there not to love?
